Tarot and Intuition: How to Trust Your Inner Guidance and Get Clear Answers

A simple three-card yes/no spread for aligned decision-making
Ever ask for a sign… and then second-guess it?
You’re not alone. One of the most common questions spiritual seekers ask is:
“How do I know if it’s my intuition—or just my overthinking?”
That’s where tarot comes in. Not as a tool to tell the future, but as a mirror for your own inner wisdom.
At Mindful Purpose Institute, we teach tarot as a sacred practice of self-trust, intuition development, and soul-aligned guidance. Whether you're navigating a relationship, business decision, or life crossroads, tarot helps you tune in and move forward with clarity.
In this post, we’ll explore how tarot and intuition work together—and teach you a simple, powerful three-card spread to get a clear yes or no.
Why Tarot Strengthens Intuition
Tarot doesn’t give you answers—it activates the answers already within.
Each card holds archetypal wisdom—symbols that speak to your subconscious mind, your energy field, and your higher self.
When you pull a card, you're not being “told” what to do. You're engaging in a sacred conversation between your conscious mind and your soul.
Here’s what happens when you practice regularly:
-
Your inner knowing gets louder
-
You recognize signs and synchronicities more easily
-
You stop outsourcing your power and start trusting yourself
Before You Pull: Set Your Intention
One of the most important (and most overlooked) steps in tarot reading is intention.
Here’s how to get aligned before your reading:
-
Clear your deck: Shuffle until the energy feels neutral. You can also knock on the deck or place a crystal on top.
-
Breathe: Take three deep breaths to center yourself.
-
Ask with clarity: Instead of “Should I do this?”, try:
-
“Is this choice aligned with my highest good?”
-
“What energy supports me moving forward?”
-
“Is this the right time to take action?”
-
A Simple 3-Card Yes/No Tarot Spread
Here’s an intuitive way to get a yes or no answer while still staying open to deeper guidance:
The Spread
Lay out 3 cards face up in a row, from left to right.
-
Count the uprights vs. reversals (if you read reversals)
-
Or count the positive vs. challenging cards (if not using reversals)
✔️ Yes = 2 or more upright/positive cards
❌ No = 2 or more reversed/challenging cards
❓ Maybe/Not yet = Mixed energy (1 of each or unclear message)
Bonus tip: Pay attention to your first gut feeling when you flip each card. That’s your intuition speaking before your logic kicks in.
Example: Asking About a New Opportunity
Question: Is this new business collaboration in alignment with my path?
Pulled:
-
Card 1: The Sun (upright) → joy, clarity, success
-
Card 2: Two of Pentacles (upright) → balance, juggling
-
Card 3: Five of Swords (reversed) → resolution, letting go of ego
Result: Two uprights + one reversed = Yes
But the cards also say: Make sure the workload is balanced, and stay clear of power struggles.
Tarot always gives layers, not just a binary answer.
Intuition Check-In: Let the Cards Confirm, Not Control
Use this spread when:
-
You’re torn between two choices
-
You want intuitive confirmation before acting
-
You feel disconnected from your gut feeling
But remember—you are the guide. The cards are tools. Their power comes from your ability to interpret them with presence and clarity.
